he passage of time brings us closer to a joyful date for San Bartolomeo in Galdo, his birthday. Not just any birthday, but its 700th anniversary. It all began in 1326 when the abbot of Santa Maria del Gualdo in Mazzocca Nicola da Ferrazzano asked Roberto D’Angiò, King of Naples, for consent to build a village around a small rural church dedicated to San Bartolomeo Apostolo.
The permission of King Robert did not take long, he arrived the following year in 1327, at the same time the population of the new village of San Bartolomeo in Galdo began.
Our country, in strong demographic and social suffering in recent years, deserves to be celebrated with dignity, for this reason we would like to leave well in advance to organize suitable celebrations.
There is no shortage, but not a lot, especially when the funds available to be allocated to the celebrations are close to 0.
We call together all the women and men of good will who live in San Bartolomeo or outside the country, who want to contribute with proposals, projects, simple suggestions or ideas to make the whole of 2027 a joyful year and perhaps a starting point for another 700 glorious years for San Bartolomeo in Galdo, the pearl of Valfortore.
